Legendary bodybuilder Ronnie Coleman has been hospitalized following a serious medical emergency, his family has confirmed.
The 61-year-old icon was scheduled to attend a fitness event in the United Kingdom this week but revealed via Instagram that his plans had changed due to sudden health concerns.
“Hey guys, I hate to break it to y’all, but I won’t be able to make it out to the UK this week like I planned,” Coleman wrote in a post to fans.
“Unfortunately, I had a medical emergency and had to stick around here in the U.S. for treatment. But don’t worry… I’m in great hands, getting the best care, and I’m staying strong through it all.”
The eight-time Mr. Olympia champion, known for his signature phrase “Ain’t nothin’ but a peanut!”, assured followers that he would bounce back stronger.
Just a day after his post, his family issued an official statement confirming the seriousness of his condition:
“Ronnie Coleman was admitted to the hospital this past Sunday morning due to a serious medical condition. He is receiving expert care and continues to show incredible strength and resilience,” the statement read.
“At this time, no further details will be disclosed. We ask for privacy and respect while Ronnie focuses on recovery. Official updates will come only from his family or authorized reps.”
Fans and fellow athletes around the world have sent in waves of support for the bodybuilding legend, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest of all time.
Coleman’s career includes eight Mr. Olympia titles (tied for the most in history) and 26 IFBB titles, before retiring in 2007. His journey has continued to inspire athletes across generations, even through his many surgeries and battles with health.
